Consider the U of U publishing experience!

UUP publishes books that take the West seriously as a place: its lands and waters, its communities, its people and cultures. Our acquisitions program is especially strong in public lands, conservation and sustainability, land use and planning, religious studies and Mormonism, Indigenous histories, biography, and cultural history and geography. Some of the strongest books on our list – our newest release The Mind of Janus: Intersections of Law and Science on the National Forests is a perfect example – cross traditional boundaries, bringing historical research into conversation with contemporary questions about landscape, identity, governance, and stewardship. While we always look for projects that reach academic audiences, we also seek out manuscripts intended for a broader readership.

Our authors often tell us that one of the advantages of publishing with UUP is the level of editorial attention they receive. We work closely with authors throughout the review, revision, and production process, offering hands-on editorial guidance and thoughtful feedback at every stage. As the manuscript moves through the production process, we not only have it copyedited but proofread as well – an extra level of oversight not every university press offers. As a small university press, we value the collaboration and connections formed with authors. Our Senior Editor Jedediah Rogers brings his own sensibilities and expertise as a trained historian (and longtime WHA member) to the projects he acquires.
