San Antonio was excavated as part of a salvage project associated with the construction of the Malpaso Dam in northwestern Chiapas in the mid-1960s. Located along the La Venta River, San Antonio was a regional Late Classic center with large plazas, ballcourt, temascal, and 26 visible structures notable for their sandstone block masonry.
