27 Oct 2025 Great Basin Anthropological Conference
Last week, acquisitions editor John Moore and marketing manager Hannah New (that’s me!) made the trip to Reno for the biennial conference of the Great Basin Anthropological Association. The Press makes a point of exhibiting at every GBAC and we had a great time again this year. John was introduced to the world of Great Basin anthropology and archaeology and I got to chat with some passionate people and catch up with old friends, including our former acquisitions editor, Reba Rauch and authors like Hikmet Loe and Steve Simms.

At the Friday night banquet, John and I listened to Lisbeth Louderback, series editor for the University of Utah Anthropological Papers (UUAP) and current GBAA president talk about the last couple of years at GBAC. We were delighted that the lifetime achievement awards were presented to two beloved Press authors: Steve Simms was lauded by James O’Connell and Reba Rauch. David Rhode received his accolades from David Madsen. Congratulations to Steven Simms and David Rhode for the well-deserved recognition.

We love publishing the work discussed and celebrated at GBAC. Have a manuscript you want to discuss? Contact John D. Moore! And plan on seeing us in Boise in 2027.

Hannah New is the marketing manager or the University of Utah Press.
